Aims and Scope

Global Surgery Case Reports is a peer reviewed, open access journal covering all surgical specialties. Submitted case reports and case series must be ethical, authentic, educational and clinically interesting to an international audience of surgeons, researchers, trainees and clinicians in all surgical subspecialties.

The journal publishes articles covering General surgery, Oral and maxillofacial surgery, Cardiothoracic surgery, Neurosurgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic surgery, Urology, Paediatric surgery, Trauma and orthopaedic surgery and Vascular surgery. The journal aims to contribute to the progress of surgery along with providing researchers and clinicians with an educational forum to disseminate their personal experience and novel treatments to a wide readership and by reviewing interesting, rare cases encountered by colleagues all over the world, from whom contributions are welcomed.

He has designed and developed many new flaps, published many innovative ideas in clinical forensic, disasters, burns and plastic surgery. He has also designed and developed the Limited Access Dressing technique. He has guided several MS (surgery) postgraduate thesis and Ph.D. thesis. He is founder president of The Society for Wound Care and Research and active member of various national associations. He has authored two books and contributed several chapters in books. MBBCH with honor, DGO, MSc, MD, Ph.D. Dr. Abdelmonem A. Hegazy is currently working as Professor of Human Anatomy and Embryology Department in the Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University (Egypt); as well as he is a Consultant of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Infertility. He is the former chairman of the Anatomy and Embryology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University (Egypt); and Professor in King Saud and Majmaah Universities (KSA) 2009-2013 and Misurata, Faculty of Medicine (Libya) 2000. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the following international journals: International Journal of Human Anatomy (USA); Journal of Experimental Medicine and Biology (Singapore) & Women Health and Complications (UK). He is the Former Editor-in-Chief of Zagazig University Medical Journal (Egypt). Dr. Hegazy is also a referee member of scientific research submitted for the promotion of professors in Egyptian Universities. Dr. Hegazy participates in Zagazig University academic, scientific, educational and professional development activities in the fields of medical sciences development, including basic and clinical research, policy implementation, design programs, set coursework plans, curricula, syllabi, scientific conference paneling, as well as designing and delivering a wide scope of continuous professional development programs, including training, strategic planning, research methodology, scientific thesis and dissertation writing; research proposal, medical ethics, organization’s behavior issues, all with emphasis on system and staff development. Dr. Hegazy is a member of the Institutional Research Board (IRB) unit, Egyptian Medical Syndicate, Egyptian Society of Anatomy, and Postgraduate and Scientific Research Affairs Committee, Faculty of Medicine. His pool of academics consists of original research articles/books/book chapters in various national and international accredited publishing houses. Ghassan Skaf, MD, FRCSC, FACS is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at Saint Joseph University, Beirut, Lebanon. He did his internship and residency training at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), USA, University of Toronto, Canada and Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA. He then completed a fellowship in Spinal Neurosurgery at the University of Toronto, Canada. Dr. Skaf has been practicing since 1998 at the American University of Beirut Medical Center and he is the Head of the Neurosurgery Department since 2006 till today. Dr. Skaf is certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Neurological Surgery. The research interests of Dr. Skaf are in Spinal Cord Injuries, Complex Spine Surgeries, Neuro Navigation, and New Innovations in Spine Surgery, Spinal Instrumentation and Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgeries. Dr. Skaf has received several awards and recognition from international societies. The last recognition was the Mexican “Legion of Honor” for his services in the medical and scientific fields.

Biography

Mohsen Naraghi is a double-board certified in both otorhinolaryngology, head and neck surgery, and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery with more than two decades of clinical practice and academic postgraduate teaching experience. He was ranked first among all the national graduates of medicine, was awarded the first rank in the national comprehensive medical examinations, graded first in the national board examinations in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, and also became the fellow of the European board of otorhinolaryngology-head and neck surgery. He continued his training in facial plastic surgery and rhinology fellowship, receiving both the international and European boards for certification in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. In 2004, he was granted the most prestigious national award in recognition of contributions to surgical science. Dr. Naraghi was the winner of the international award of the American Rhinologic Society in 2005. He was also granted the international award for excellence in medical sciences in the innovation in clinical medicine in 2011. He was awarded the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Honor Award in recognition of his distinguished service on committees, scientific programs, continuing education courses and instruction courses to the Academy in 2015. He was also awarded a committee excellence award for his distinguished services on the humanitarian efforts committee of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in 2016. Being a member of both the American Academy of Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, he is also a fellow of the American Rhinology Society. In the Middle East, he served one of the region’s most prestigious medical events, as the founder and president of the Middle East Congress on Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery, which is well-known as MERC. More than three hundred articles and chapters in rhinology and facial plastic surgery including eighty international papers have been published by Dr. Naraghi. He has instructed in more than sixty courses, hands-on and live surgery workshops on rhinoplasty and facial plastic surgery throughout the world including University of Texas South Western Medical Center Dallas Rhinoplasty & Cosmetic Surgery Symposia and Workshops, New York Cutting Edge Aesthetic Surgery, and the American Academy of Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery meetings. Furthermore, Dr. Naraghi has published eighteen books in the fields of rhinology and facial plastic surgery, including a two-volume comprehensive rhinology university textbook. His other title “Facial Plastic Surgery” was awarded as the country’s best academic book of the year in 2007. Dr. Naraghi’s Personal Approach to Secondary Rhinoplasty was published as a chapter in the essential first-ever global reference on revision rhinoplasty in the United States. In the last two decades, Dr. Naraghi has mentored more than two hundred residents and fellows. He has performed and supervised more than seven thousand teaching surgeries in the university hospital to dedicate state-of-the-art experiences to the new generation of surgeons. His training has touched people across the world including international surgeons and fellows.

Publication Charges

Global Surgery Case Reports is an Open Access journal and we do not charge the end user when accessing a manuscript or any article. This allows the scientific community to view, download, distribution of an article in any medium, provided that the original work is properly cited, under the term of "Creative Commons Attribution License".

In line with other open access journals we provide a flat fee submission structure on the acceptance of a peer-reviewed article which covers in part the entirety of the publication pathway (the article processing charge). The process includes our maintenance, submission and peer review systems and international editing, publication and submission to global indexing and tracking organisations and archiving to allow instant access to the whole article and associated supplementary documents. We also have to ensure enough investment to secure a sustainable model which ethically, legally and financially stable.

The publication charge for Global Surgery Case Reports is £ (GBP) 1099.

Why do we charge?

All articles published in Science Repository are open access. Open Access publishing implies that all readers, anywhere in the world, are allowed unrestricted to full text of articles, immediately on publication in Science Repository Journals. The Article Publication Charges pay for the editorial and production costs of the journal, for hosting the website, publishing articles online, preparing HTML , PDF and XML versions of the articles and submitting the articles in electronic citation database like CrossRef.

Our financial goals are to:

  • Maintain the portal for best experienece
  • Recover capitalization cost
  • Produce sufficient revenue to allow for a sustainable and scalable publishing program, under continuous development
  • Although we charge the minimum possible but we will reduce the publication-charge cost downward over time.

When should I pay?

Corresponding author or the paying institutions should arrange for the payment once they are notified regarding acceptance of the article. APC is exempted for cases in which a wavier agreement has been made in-prior to submission.

*We request an immediate attention towards the payment as the articles will not be published unless the charges have been paid.

Who will pay the APC (Article Processing Charges)?

Corresponding author or Co-authors has to make the payment on acceptance of the article.

How do I pay?

Do I have to pay if my manuscript is rejected?

No, Article processing charges will not be applicable for articles rejected by the Editorial office.

The waiver request will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and will be provided accordingly.
