Comments:

Using Caenorhabditis elegans as model organism, the study aims to prove that light can not only alter a cell, but also a small organism and influence its life activities. The use of a different laser intensity is unique to this study and can pave the way for further investigations. The Discussion puts forth the rationale for taking up the study, effectively describes the relevant literature and enlists the implications of the findings from the present study in that context. It is well supported with briefly explained figures. The data from this study holds potential in providing great insights for future phototherapy.

Further comments on the paper

Comments: This study innovatively uses a 266-nm laser to irradiate Caenorhabditis elegans for only one second and observes a significant inhibition of the overall number of eggs laid. The study holds significance as this is the first study to establish how light with a wavelength of 266-nm can influence a life activity such as laying eggs in C. elegans. It is also the first study designed for C. elegans, wherein the impact on the initial and total quantity of eggs laid has been studied. The article provides significant results enlightening a potential that light can also effectively regulate the behaviour of life.
