COVID-19 and Pregnancy: An Unusual Case with Multi-Systemic Failure
COVID-19 and Pregnancy: An Unusual Case with Multi-Systemic Failure
Review Data
Significance of the Study: This study presents the case of a 31-weeks pregnant patient infected with SARS-CoV-2 presenting with hepatic cytolysis, cholestasis and mild kidney failure. However, the mechanisms for liver damage in COVID-19 infection are unclear. The presented report significantly highlights the difficulties for an appropriate diagnosis of pregnant women suffering from COVID-19.
Fit with Journal: The manuscript is highly suited for the journal Case Reports in Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive.
The Discussion thoroughly analyses the presenting symptoms in the patient and the differential diagnosis in the case. The Conclusion is consistent with the evidences presented in the article. Further studies on the impact of COVID-19 on pregnancy are required to be carried out in future to improve the knowledge on maternal-fetal management of this infection.
The manuscript is mostly well-written except a few minor errors (already corrected in the galley proof), which are listed below –
§ Words like “multi-systemic”, “angiotensin-converting”, “X-ray” and “alpha-methyldopa” should be hyphenated.
§ The heading “Abreviations” should be corrected to “Abbreviations”.
§ In the 3rd sentence of 11th paragraph of Case Presentation, “hydroxychloroquin” should be replaced with “hydroxychloroquine”.
§ In the 1st sentence of 2nd paragraph of Conclusion, “to” should be removed and “adequate” should be replaced with “appropriate”.
§ Punctuations and articles, e.g., “the” were missing in several places throughout the text.
