Prolonged SARS-CoV-2 Viral Shedding in Pregnancy and Risk of Extended inPatient Isolation: A Case Report
Review Data
This case report describes a 36-year-old primigravida patient infected with SARS-CoV-2 who remained in prolonged isolation for over 6 weeks due to persistent positive COVID-19 tests and complained of preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM). In order to avoid the negative consequences of unnecessary isolation, a large retrospective cohort study has been carried out to study the duration and exact time period of the viral shedding which provides variable data.
The Discussion gives a detailed account on the prolonged isolation, efficacy of immune system, prolonged viral shedding of the infected patient, and also highlights on the guidelines of diagnostic testing for SARS-CoV-2 infected pregnant patients. This article is suitable for the journal Case Reports in Obstetrics Gynaecology and Reproductive (CROGR).
There are few minor errors in the manuscript (already corrected in galley proof) which are as follows:
· Hyphens are missing at several places throughout the article such as, in Introduction, 4th paragraph, 2nd sentence, “real time” will be “real-time”, In Case Presentation, “previable” must be written as “pre-viable”.
· Determiners are missing in certain places like, in Abstract, last sentence, “duration” must be “the duration”, “viable” must be “the viable”.
· In Case Presentation, 5th paragraph, last sentence, “labs were normal” can be reframed as “lab reports were normal”.
· In SARS-CoV-2 and Prolonged Viral Shedding under Discussion, 3rd paragraph, 2nd sentence, “Qingddao” must be correctly written as “Qingdao”.
