Spread of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) in a High-Volume Hospital: Vascular Surgery Impact
Review Data
§ Significance of the Study: This case report, involving a 76-year-old patient with arterial hypertension in a high-volume university hospital, highlights the preventive measures to reduce the elective activities and surgical practice in the various specialities and to ensure the necessary resources in the management of the spread of the related COVID-19 pathology.
§ Fit with the Scope of the Journal: The manuscript perfectly fits with the scope of the journal Global Surgery Case Reports.
§ The case description is adequate. The Discussion thoroughly analyses the implementation of new multidisciplinary measures; for example, anaesthesiological management and antibiotic prophylaxis, which can be of great importance in protecting vascular patients in a COVID-19 hospital.
§ A few minor errors (already corrected in the galley proof) are listed below:
o Figures 1 & 3 are not given in the manuscript.
o Words like “anaesthesiological”, “ischaemic”, “behavioural”, “hemisyndrome”, “Echocolourdoppler” are misspelled in the text section.
o Words like “fibrolipid”, “healthcare”, “Grayscale”, “standby”, “turnover” should be written as single word.
o In the 2nd sentence of the Abstract, the verb “makes” should be inserted before “the future”.
o In the 3rd sentence of the Abstract, “described” should be replaced with “to describe”.
o In the 1st sentence of the 2nd paragraph of the Introduction, “It was therefore” should be rephrased as “Therefore, it was”.
o The last sentence of the last paragraph of the Introduction should be rephrased as “For example, an experience regarding the clinical course of a patient with an indication for an urgent carotid TEA is reported here.”
o In the 4th sentence of the Case report, “Mannitol 100 mg ev/ die” should be checked.
o The 5th sentence of the Case Report “For the completion of… NASCET criteria.” does not make sense. Hence, it should be rephrased.
o The last sentence of the Case Report should be rephrased as “An endarterectomy with a standard technique was the procedure which was compatible with the new SICVE indications that frame the symptomatic stenoses of the carotid artery in the risk categories according to the European and WHO new guidelines.”
o In the 1st sentence of the last paragraph of the Discussion, the word “first-level” should be hyphenated.
o In the 3rd sentence of the last paragraph of the Discussion, “is” should be replaced with “has” after “channel”.
o In the 4th sentence of the 1st paragraph of the Discussion, the word “micro-flugges” should be replaced with “Flugge microdroplets”.
