Gastric Xanthomatous Hyperplastic Polyps – Just an Incidental Endoscopic Finding?

Review Data

Purpose and Significance of Study: This is a report of a case of gastric xanthomatous hyperplastic polyp (which is rare) in a young man suffering from severe obesity and metabolic syndrome.

Fit with Scope of Journal: The manuscript is of very high interest for the journal Surgical Case Reports.

The manuscript contains a few minor errors (already corrected in the galley proof, except the highlighted one, which requires the author’s attention), which are listed below

The common errors are –

·       Omission of articles, e.g., “the” before “literature” in the last sentence of Conclusions in the Abstract, “the” before “patients” in the 6th sentence of Histological findings during laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy in the Background, and so on.

·       Omission of “,”, e.g., after “knowledge” in the 5th sentence of Conclusions in the Abstract, after “now” in the 2nd sentence in the 2nd paragraph of Gastric hyperplastic polyps and xanthomatous hyperplastic polyps in the Background, and so on.

·       Usage of incorrect prepositions, e.g., “to” after “associated” must be replaced with “with”in the 3rd sentence of Conclusions in the Abstract, “on” after “polyp” must be replaced with “in” in the last sentence of the Background, and so on.

·       “Xanthelasma” has been misspelled multiple times.

·       “Helicobacter pylori” must be italicized as it is a scientific name.

·       “Workup” must be written as a single word.

The others are –

In the Background –

Under Histological findings during laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy –

·       In the 4th sentence, “represent” must be replaced with “represents”.

Under Gastric hyperplastic polyps and xanthomatous hyperplastic polyps –

   In the 2nd paragraph –

·       In the 2nd sentence, “eradicate” must be replaced with “eradicated”.

In the Case presentation –

·       In the 11th sentence, “jatal” before “hernia” does not make sense; hence it must be replaced. Also, “were diagnosed” must be removed.

In the Conclusions –

  In the 2nd paragraph –

·       In the 1st sentence, “premalignant” must be hyphenated to maintain consistency.

  In the 3rd paragraph –

·       In the 1st sentence, “Pubmed” and “Reaseachgate” must be replaced with “PubMed” and “ResearchGate” respectively.

·       In the 7th sentence, “except” must be replaced with “apart”.

  In the last paragraph –

·       In the 3rd sentence, “addressed to” must be replaced with “suggested”.

·       In the last sentence, “according” must be replaced with “in accordance”.
